The Role

Moneybox is experiencing significant growth, with over 500,000 customers, over £1billion in assets under administration, and a rapidly developing product suite. We’ve just raised £38million in Series C fundraising, backed by Fidelity Strategic Investments, CNP and Breega, and are building out our first in-house Legal Team.
The Head of Legal will report to the COO and the role will be professionally varied and personally fulfilling. We are at an exciting inflection point of the company’s journey and the Head of Legal role will not only help lay the legal foundations for scaling but will also help shape the path ahead.

What you’ll do

- Lead the legal function and work with the COO to deliver a best in class legal service to the business
- Provide legal and strategic advice to all teams in order to develop our product and processes
- Manage contractual relationships and legal risk with suppliers, partners and other third parties
- Risk-spot and proactively identify legal solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risk
- Deal with external counsel and suppliers, owning the legal budget
- Draft and advise on agreements that cover complex and cross-functional areas
- Take responsibility for a range of legal activities such as IP, property, fundraising, litigation, outsourcing
- Work with the product and customer facing teams to establish and maintain the right contract with the customer, taking into account best customer service, our product offering and applicable regulation
- Support the compliance team with regulatory, data protection and contentious matters
- Support the company secretary with corporate and governance related matters
- Take the initiative to keep up to date on relevant legal developments

Experience and skills

    - 5/6+ year PQE lawyer with financial services experience preferable
    - Spent some time in house, preferably at a start-up or scale-up

Other relevant experience:
-drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
-corporate activities, including fundraising
-company matters such as IP, litigation, property
-advising on data protection and GDPR compliance

- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to juggle and prioritise a large number of competing matters
- An interest and mind for developing legal strategy
- Able to work proactively and autonomously with minimal supervision
- Strong relationship building and influencing skills
- Fluency in English
